Assuming the roads are passable and I can make it tonight... Just wondering if anyone knows about Using Rules and if there'd be time for some discussion.

A pleasure as always
My apologies I had to skip out early (again) just as we began the agenda proper. However I'm sure Damien did just fine without me assisting him in getting ahead of himself ;)
Hope this was beneficial to you! Panels and all of its children / permutations / implementations could likely fill a year's worth of meetings on its own -- definitely the kind of module that opens up a lot of options to brainstorm over.
One of my favorites, especially for breathing a little life back into the interface of a D6 site with "troubled" managers, is Panels Tabs (http://drupal.org/project/panels_tabs)
It allows you to set any particular Region of your Layout to display it's individual Panes as a series of Tabs. This has the odd use for public-facing pages -- but my favorite trick is for ease-of-use for content-level maintainers; facilitating a "forward-facing" interface.
Wherever displaying a view, I throw Create Node forms and Draggable Tables (for weight sorting) in the same place as the view which displays the content to the public. We can then either add Role- or Permission- based Selection Rules to the Pane itself (just as we would at the variant level!) -- or rely on the views' access rules itself -- and the result is the contextual and secure appearance / disappearance of a full-fledged in-place interfaces for managing the specific content.
I'd love to hear any other faves, recipes, or "mere" brainstorming you fine gentlemen have to offer -- either from experience, or as they develops!
