The third NYC Drupal Ladders sprint! (Part of Drupal global sprint days)

Start:
2013-03-10 14:00 - 17:00 America/New_York
Organizers:

The next NYC Drupal Ladders sprint is happening Sunday, March 10th. The sprints so far have been a lot of fun and this one will be an NYC part of Drupal global sprint days (March 9–10). Come join us!

The Drupal Ladder project is part of an initiative to help Drupal users get started learning and contributing back to Drupal. The stated goal is to get "just" 1% of active users on drupal.org to contribute to Drupal core by 2014. This is a great way to learn about and contribute to Drupal 8.

What's the plan?

We'll be learning to test patches. Patch testing can be an enormous bottleneck, so this is a crucial skill. By the end of the sprint you'll be testing patches in the Drupal issue queue.

Want to do something else? (Write a guide to installing Drupal 8 on MAMP, test patches, make other improvements?) Also cool. Go for it.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

What to do in advance

  • Sign up for an account on drupalladder.org. It's free and quick. Promise.
  • Pack a laptop
  • Event signup (at the bottom of this post) isn't required but is heartily appreciated.

When

The event will run from 2:00pm-5:00pm on Sunday, March 10.

Where

Elephant Ventures, our gracious host, have once again generously agreed to make their space available. It's just a half-block from Grand Central:

144 East 44th Street, 7th Fl (10017)

I missed the other ones/What if I don't know how to [X]?

Come anyway! We'll work it out.

Comments

And to think I just took the train from Brooklyn.

Last time we had Drupalers from Jersey, this time we'll also have new Drupalers from Philly! Sign up and spread the word!

Only three hours?

Seems like rather a short block of time for a code sprint. Any chance it could start earlier in the day?

No chance of an earlier start

No chance of an earlier start this time, but given the speed with which people have been getting through the "learn" part of these sprints, I think we'll have time to dive in a bit. I'll check whether it's possible to extend it later.

Thanks to everyone who made it, to Elephant Ventures for the space, and to drnikki for the emergency laptop loan.

The next sprint will be this Sunday, March 24, from 2–5pm (same times): http://groups.drupal.org/node/288908

If you didn't make it last time, don't worry about it! Come join us this weekend anyway.
