Berkeley Drupal Group - June 20th Meeting
Greeting East Bay Drupalers,
Last month we went with an extended Q&A period since there were so many brand new folk. I would love to have a bit more presentation time this month, so let me know if you have a great idea for a presentation.
Food - Dan can't make it this month, but if someone volunteers to bring pizza & drinks, Civic Actions will reimbursement them.

Follow up:
We had another great meeting. About 20 folk showed up. Only about a quarter UCB folk which was quite a change from last month. Conversation ranged from "How does Drupal stack up to other CMS's", to tradeoffs of Image Cache vs Image module, to a Wysiwig slap-down, to debate over drupal.org hosting adds, and lots of stops along the way.
We had a couple great suggestion for the future, including having a presentation of "how I created this website", and collecting questions ahead of time on a wiki page here in the Bay Area group. Also, there is strong interest in a regular SF Drupal group, if anyone on the west side of the bay wants to organize it.
Here are links to somethings that were mentioned in the meeting:
* Lullabot's Site - Good source for Drupal articles and podcasts. Especially Top 40 Drupal Modules
* Drupal Module Metics Proposal
* Notable sites using Drupal
* Official Drupal list of core contracting houses
* The Drupal Association
* Resource page for this group - this page is just getting started. Feel free to send me more resources to put here, or we could think about turning this into a wiki page on this group.
Thanks again for everyone who came, and especially to Jen for totting the pizzas up the hill, and Mark for bringing drinks.

Cheeseboard Pizza?
The Berkeley cheeseboard is between my office and the meeting, I can stop by and pick up a couple. I'll be a first-time BDG attendee, about how many people will be wanting pizza?

Mark me down as 1 attendee who will be wanting pizza. Be careful of that cheeseboard line though. Wouldn't want ya to miss the get together.
Thanks!

looks like i can attend, again
happy to report i should be able to make it again, this month.
any thoughts on topics for the agenda?
Yay!
The agenda is still up for grabs. I think the new-to-drupal folk are getting a lot out of the Q&A, but I don't think it should dominate quite as much as it did last meeting.
Any good ideas?
Agenda suggestion
I'll be there tomorrow in case anyone is tracking RSVPs.
If no one has any exciting agenda ideas, then I have a real basic suggestion: how about a walk-through of someone's website on the front and back ends. This would show which modules are being used, how things work, etc. It would present opportunities for Q & A and would certainly be useful for newbies like myself; not sure how useful it would be for the more advanced folks, though.
Format
I agree that the group time was valuable, and should be a block of time.
Maybe have someone use the Projector to walk through a site w/ questions as suggested above.
Then maybe break into small groups with people that have specific issues or problems can figure out together.
Each person is probably trying to scratch a specific itch, and there should be a way to magically match up questions with answers.
ugh, home sick
came down with a nasty cold yesterday, and it's worse today. :( i think it's in everyone's interests if i keep my germs and myself away from your nice meeting this time. ;) enjoy, and good luck!
