Berkeley Drupal Group - July 25th Meeting

This month's topic: Image handling in Drupal.

This is a pretty meaty topic. I would like to at least touch on:

• An overview of Drupal file handling
• Images as nodes vs images as CCK fields
• The joys of imagecache.
• IMCE vs img_assist

So, this is the perfect time to bring your questions about images, and your favorite image handling module or strategy to share.

Update: Wow, I continue to be impressed by the strong turn out. We were 36 strong today, pretty much evenly split between newbies, people involved in Drupal projects, and Drupal developers. It was great to have drumm come by!

As expected, we were not able to do much more than scratch the surface of Drupal and Images, but a good time was had, and I think some information got transmitted. My big lesson was that show & tell works a lot better than just tell, and we will try and use the video projector more in the future (note to self - bring my laptop to the group meetings).

Kent Bye was our note taker, and he will be sharing his meeting notes as a wiki on this group, so everyone can add in missing bits.

Suggestions for future meeting topics were Menus/breadcrumbs and Wysiwyg editors. We should probably also do a basic CCK/Views overview, since we talk about the pairing so much. And Jason had the great idea of focusing future presentations on specific use cases, rather trying to answer all the questions about a given topic.
