Scratchpad for the Next Meetup
Do you have something you want to learn in an upcoming meetup, knowledge you would like to share, cool ideas, or suggestions? Post your thoughts here and we'll try to integrate them into the next meetup. I'll make sure to stay on top of this thread though it may get pushed down over the course of the month.
Here are a few suggestions from a previous post to get us started. I've added some comments in brackets.
[I really liked the idea from Oleg and Jacob http://groups.drupal.org/node/5660#comment-16744.] They suggested "taking a task from the bug reports, issue queue, etc. then fixing it and submitting a patch. The exercise would teach those involved how to use the issue queue effectively, how to review Drupal code (most likely including using tools like the devel module, eclipse, and/or other tools), how to hunt down bugs, rolling a patch and then submitting the patch for review." [Coordinating this will be the trick, as it could easily take up the entire meetup. We should probably decide what we want to work on ahead of time.]
Phillamb168 aka Phillip Lamb offered to present on theming best practices and keeping non-variable php out of anything except template.php. [I hope we'll be able to hear from you on this next time.]
The Sony crew (Jerad, Dave & Michael) can present on any number of topics depending on interest. Some possible topics might be (Panels 1 and/or 2, Multisite setups, Theming, CCK, Views, or an overview of how Sony is implementing some of these technologies in their sites.)
xamount@drupal.org asked, "Is there any way to have this meeting streamed on the internet live? If it cant be streamed live, can it at least be recorded so I can view it later?" [Drupal Dojo drupaldojo.com may have technologies for this, but I would like to wait until we get more comfortable with the structure of the meetups and the technologies available in the spaces before we venture into this. That being said, I'd love help from someone who really knows about podcasting, videoconferencing, and streaming audio and video.]

I'm posting it right now.
I'm posting it right now.
Suggested topics for future meetups
Suggested topics (in addition to those listed above):
I'm interested in finding out how others handle the business side: promoting your services, what to charge, working with clients, etc.
I'm interested in discussing how to work with more traditional web designers, in terms of managing expectations and adapting their html/css layouts to Drupal.
I'd be willing to do a bit on what can be accomplished by a newbie, i.e., several simple sites in various stages of undress.
I'm interested in learning anything I can about images and ways to get Drupal to handle them the way I want it to. (Is this going to improve in v6?)
