Our next Themers Play Day will be in June :)
As usual, our Bklyn play day is at Food For Thought : http://www.yelp.com/biz/food-4-thought-cafe-brooklyn
Here is a gmap to FFT: http://tinyurl.com/yj4u27r
If you are taking the subway:
- Get on the A express into Brooklyn and I do mean the express
- Get off at Utica Ave (Nostrand is the (express) station just before it, if you catch a local, it is Kingston-Throop (this is pronounced "Troop", btw)
- You will want to exit the station at the rear of the train, so that you will come out heading, straight in the right direction!
- Take the staircase to your right!
- Follow the directions on the map!
Call me if you get lost 917-676-0677
Last time, I was consumed by a site I was working on... this time, I will be more available to help other out :)

Address
Please confirm.
As per the link, it appears the address is:
445 Marcus Garvey Blvd
Brooklyn, NY 11226
which I do not see explicitly stated in the posting.
I guess that is the address
I really can never find the address on the actual building ... I just know that it is the cool place around the corner.
I assure you that it is there and it exists!
weekday
:( this is during work hours. maybe i'll take off for the next one :)
UPDATE: nvm, I read the "submitted" day, "friday" -- :) i'll be there!
The JUNE Playday is changed to Sunday, June 13th
Some of our Jewish friends have expressed true regret that they won't be able to make it to our Sat Play Days ...
So, being the Ignostic that I am, I think a great thing to do is alternate the days so that everyone can come :)
The next Play Day will be on Sunday June 12th from 11:30am to 6pm.
Please note that after this is the last time this will be a "Themer's Play Day" : The new name will simply be "Drupal Play Day"
Thanks for changing the date
Now I don't have to choose between Drupal and USA World Cup Soccer!
I or A what's in a letter?
Oops, my bad... I thought u made a typo

also ...
<>
Actually ... i was trying to be inclusive
i mean ... isn't that part of our community?
yes it is
i'm stupid... i thought u meant to say 'agnostic...' (hence my play on the word agnore vs ignore...)
u can 'agnore' my post
:)
thanks :)
I think i'll be able to stop
I think i'll be able to stop by, this should be nice. See you tomorrow.

i might show up. Anyone needs
i might show up. Anyone needs a ride from Manhattan? 2 seats available... i live in chinatown so you'll have to meet me there.. PM me if your too lazy to take the train.
Thanks for a great Playday
Thank you for everyone who came to the day today!
I think that from now on, we will keep the event on Saturdays - also, it might be better to reduce the time - say from 12-4 seeing that that is the "hotspot" hours.
That being the case, I would try to do them once a month ... so that the frequency will compensate for the "lost time"
what does everyone think?
Sound good
12-4 sounds good. I can deal with Saturday. The Sunday advantage is that one does not have to worry about feeding parking meters or if one loses track of time, getting tickets. I guess it isn't an issue since nobody else said anything from the previous meetings.
awesome
once a month sounds awesome :) it'll make up for me missing this one.
Once a month is fine -
Best for all if you can choose a particular Saturday - say the first, second, third... Saturday of the month.
I'd always favor a longer time - but I think what you might want to consider, assuming that the very gracious people at Food for Thought are okay is to encourage people to come to Food for Thought around opening time.
You would be there from 12:00 - 4:00, but people would be encouraged to show up early.
Also, since I've had to leave playdays early, I don't know whether 4:00 is a cutoff time because Food for Thought closes at that time. Dunno - if some people are working on something and "on a roll" - can people stay later.
All of this because I noticed at a playdate a few times back that some people were travelling from the burbs and elsewhere, and I suspect many people who are working on drupal projects and making decisions re how they want their site(s) to look will be more than happy to schedule a full day for something like this.
thanks eveyone for your input
i found it funny the comment about parking meters in bed-stuy on Sunday ... of all places ! With all the churches, you will have better luck finding parking on Sat
and thank you Quid for the suggestion of a set date: so here it is
Drupal Play Day in Brooklyn will be on the Third Sat of every month at the Food for Thought location :) The hot hours are 12-4 you can come anytime from 11-6 but really the peak hours are 12 - 4
Also, I don't have to be there for this to happen :) so, while I will most likely be there ... i might not.
A final word: although the playdays are there so that you can get some help; they are not there to be a day long tutoring session. Personally, i really can't be committed to providing full time tutorials all day or helping alot of people set up their local environment... For me, that isn't really playful - it feels more like work.
Really, in my mind, Play days are a chance for people to get together and share ideas, talk solutions, expose new technologies and work on their projects <-- not get other people to do the work for them.
So, I am saying this to manage expectations.
I want these days full of fun, discovery and great conversations ... especially for me
