I agree that early Feb is too soon. I think we could get it all together by then, but not without unnecessary stress.
I think it's fine to do soon after the boson DrupalCon.
While there is overlap, the events are different enough and have different crowds.
The overlap will mainly be in the subset that are planning workshops and this might be a good thing. I could see using the boston event to energize those folks and also get some face-to-face time with each other before drupalcamp

I love DrupalCon but its going to be spendy this time around as the conference facilities are really, really spendy.

not too late in the year
April/May or beyond may be getting too close to the summer camp time frame - can a second event be planned between May and July or August.
There is always going to be something else going on, so it's better to plan around the availability of the people most likely to be involved than around the timing of other events.

March 15/16 sounds fine
DrupalCon will not make people be "burnt out", but rather, more excited about Drupal than they were before. The closeness in time will be a good thing. We really shouldn't rush things and get it in by February, but we also shouldn't leave it until April or May if we're going to have another one this summer (hopefully).

i went to a week long 'bot workshop a year ago and was so excited to show off my new techniques once i got back to work... there was no burn. 'cept for smashing up a rental car... NOT my fault!

I have like a 1-1.5% chance of going to Drupalcon and if I do I'll kick back in NYC or somewhere nearby to attend the camp.

BTW: SXSW is March 9-18th which conflicts. I'm not sure what that means for those attending the camp though.

My wife and I are having a baby, so I will be burnt no matter what the date. The 15th or later should be fine.
