Looks like there's interest in a meet-up, so let's see if we can't get one rolling.
Where would be the best place to do it?
Teru, you're in Mie-ken right? Jon, you're in Okinawa, yeah?
Robert and Marc, sounds like you guys are both abroad.
Drupalace, whereabouts do you live?
I'm in Shiga. markDrupal is in Shiga as well.
Since we're scattered, a single meetup won't work for everyone unfortunately, but as this group grows, I hope we can get meetups happening in different locations around the country.
So, for a first meetup, how many of you would be able to come to a meet-up in Kyoto?
Shall we aim to do one mid-late January?
Also, what days work best for you guys? My schedule's completely flexible, but I'm guessing weekends work better for others.

I lived in Okinawa for a year when I was young and I spent 4 years in Kyoto when I was a student.
I know how nice we have a meet-up in Okinawa but it's too far away from here. So Kyoto is OK for me.
I can't leave my office on Fridays. So Saturday, January 26th is preferable.
would Sun. Jan. 27th work as well?

The big city. Looks like everyone is pretty spread out, so a get-together won't be easy... I'd be willing to travel to wherever people can meet, but with a family addition due to arrive any day now, won't be mobile for a while. : ( I hope those who can meet in January will go ahead and do so.
Do Drupal.org groups have any sort of chat capability for an online "meeting"?

My wife's family lives near Tokyo actually, so the next time were in the Tokyo area, maybe we could meet up.
Online meetings. great idea. Groups.drupal.org doesn't have the ability, but we could probably dig up some free tools that would allow us to do that. Drupal Dojo does screencasts for their pow-wows. we could probably borrow a page from their book.
