February Drupal Meetup
Next Wednesday, February 20th, is the next Washington DC Drupal Meetup. This month we will be meeting at Affinity Lab, located in Adams Morgan right above The Diner.
The meetup will be in the standard format with a series of 5-minute "lightning" presentations by anyone who has something to show off to the group, followed by some time for relaxed mingling. A projector and wi-fi will be provided so you can easily use your laptop to access things online.
Since the lab is not a restaurant or bar, we will be purchasing drinks, sandwiches, and snacks ahead of time. We are looking for sponsors to cover the price of the food and drink (email or comment if you are interested), however, if no one steps forward we might ask attendees to chip in 5 to 10 dollars towards covering the cost.
We are planning on starting at 7pm (and ending around 9pm), which should give everyone a chance to arrive from work. The address is 2451 18th St NW, and the entrance is to the right of The Diner. Push the buzzer for Affinity Lab when you arrive.
The nearest metro to Adams Morgan is the Woodley Park stop on the Red line, however keep in mind there is a 10-15 minute walk from there to the lab. There is also a bunch of buses that can drop you off right at 18th and Columbia from places like Metro Center, Dupont Circle, and the Ust Corridor, so check the Metro bus map before heading out.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

sponsorship
My company, MailerMailer LLC, is interested in sponsoring the event. How can we contact you offline to arrange details? (The contact form on your personal web site says "permission denied") and I don't find your email address elsewhere.
Sponsorship
Community IT Innovators (CITI) would also be interested in sponsorship. You can contact me directly at glavallee [at] citidc [dot] com.

Reminder About Tonight
Hey Everyone
Just wanted to send out a reminder about the meetup that is happening tonight from 7pm to 9pm at Affinity Lab in Adams Morgan.
Hopefully, everyone will brave the flurries and I will see you there!
Mike
Great Meetup tonight!
Great meeting... good turnout and a great mix of presentations and discussions. Thanks again to Mike for hosting.
Just a bit of info about what I showed tonight. The working name is the Views Custom Columns module and it will be a stand-alone module requiring only Views and will add a new view table type which allows hiding & rearranging of view table columns (a là iTunes playlists) as well as per-user, per-view saving of these preferences. On the view builder side, it will be integrated with Views UI to allow simple checkbox configuration right in with the normal view settings.
I'll definitely blog it up at my site (http://codesorcery.net) when it's ready!
Yes, great meetup!
Thanks to everyone who came out to the meetup tonight. I had a really good time, and I hope that everyone else did too. I thought that there was some really productive discussion during the presentations.
Also thanks to our sponsors for the evening:

Also thanks to the individuals that made small donations tonight to help cover the costs.
Anyway, I think that everything worked out well, and if everyone enjoyed tonight's location and format, I would certainly be willing to host another Drupal meetup soon.
See you around!
Mike
Excellent Meetup!
As a first-time attendee, I thought last night's meetup was great -- interesting presentations and good discussions. Thanks to all those who helped get it all together.
Since this is the DC group, not the Northern Virginia group, I am probably in the minority on this, but Northern Virginia would be more convenient for me (and cheaper for parking). That said, a big thank you to Affinity Lab for the space. Meeting there again would be fine. It was very conducive to both presentations and one-on-one conversations -- certainly better than a bar scene.
I'll see you all next time.

Great Meetup
I had a great time as well. Mike, could you contact me off-list so that I know where to send the check from CITI?
Thanks!

Thanks for arranging!
Great job putting together the event last night. Thanks to all the sponsors and those who helped put it together!
And I know it's not drupal related, but twittermeter is really neat. Fun times.
Glad you liked it
I'm glad you liked it! It got me thinking about some ways to implement the simile API into a module. I'll let you know if and when I find/develop something and would always appreciate suggestions!
+1
Thanks Mike. Great location and venue. Combination of working projector + working wifi + good food - loud bar patrons is hard to beat. Def. the best Drupal DC meetup I've attended so far, I'd vote to keep it at Affinity Lab.
I don't yet have documentation on the alternative drupal installation and maintenance layout I demo'd last night, but I will post it here when I do. If anyone has a burning desire to implement this right away just email me.
Thanks again to everyone!
+ another
I agree too - everything was great. It was so much more comfortable, easy to hear and see, etc. I'd happily keep chipping in to have it at Affinity Lab.

This was my first Drupal meetup, too. Everything about it was great: engaging, varied, structured, friendly, relaxed.
I'll be back... hope it continues to be at Affinity Lab, too.
