The next Sacramento DUG meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 15th, 2010 at the Hoppy Brewing Company from 5:30pm-9:00pm.

Schedule:
5:30 - Beginner's Presentation
6:30 - Introductions and general business
7:00 - Main presentation
followed by lightning talks and general discussion

The main Presentation will be an introduction to the Features module (http://drupal.org/project/features) by Shawn DeArmond. Learn how this most useful system will let you set up complex Drupal configurations with minimal fuss.

Gary Pryde will be making a "beginner's" presentation (but should be of interest to all) at 5:30 on the subject of day to day administration tasks.

Items to be covered include:

Step 1: Download & upload all needed modules (listed above) to module folder.

Step 2: Enable Teleport.
This is how we will be navigating the admin area for the rest of the
admin cleanup.

Step 3: Enable Module filter.
This is a must have for simple module administration.

Step 4: Enable Permissions Select.
This will enable “select/deselect all” check boxes on the permissions
administration page.

Step 5: Enable Filter Permissions.
This turn the permissions administration section into something useful:)

Step 6: Enable Admin Role.
This module automatically assigns all permissions to an admin role
that can be added to any user. (We need to disable and re-enable a
module to see it take effect).

Step 7: Enable Backup & Migrate.
This allows for quick, easy, backups.

Step 8 (if there’s time):
Create a new role.
Create a user with that role.
Enable Masquerade.
Configure if for quick switching between that user and the admin.
Add the Masquerade Block to the side nav.

Unless I can stuff my four kids in there, I won't be able to make a meeting till December!.. not to mention my 9 year old will be pestering me for a beer :o.. j/k..

I'd really would love to come, but babysitting woes defeat me. Think we could live stream the meeting? Set up someone's laptop somewhere with Skype video chat on, or perhaps another service.. www.ustream.tv does a decent job.. though so I hear the wireless might not be up to much.. and who knows what kind of upload pipe they've got. Worth a try regardless.

Also... when did we get a logo? Pretty snazzy Caleb.

Anyone record the meeting?

Hi all,

I run a Bay Area Drupal Learner's Group. The beginner's presentation sounds GREAT! Does anyone do a recording of that session? I would like to show to my group member.

Best,
Jack

recording

Hi Jack-

No, we don't record them, they are pretty free form. You're welcome to come down and join in, and even record things, but the presentations are generally with a lot of participation from the audience, so it might not be all that great for a recording.

However, many of the presentations are from slides that were made for camps. If this is the case, we encourage the presenters to mention these links.
