Anyone go to a local univeristy or college (looking for drupalcamp locations)

GregoryHeller's picture

Are there any SeaDUG members who attend any of the local colleges or universities (or work at them) or have any idea about the process of getting rooms for events?

We are looking for locations for DrupalCamp, and it might also be a good idea to find a new larger location for our DUG meetings (though i guess there will be no beer at school :-( )

S.U.?
U.W.?

Seattle Central?

I believe the local Linux user group meets at North Seattle Community College one Saturday a month, so they must have some kind of low-cost arrangement. Maybe we could piggy-back with them?

DUG location

I'll volunteer our auditorium for DUG meetings, although it is not ideal it has lots of space and wifi and is located close to where we already meet. There's a projector and screen and audio for presentations. There is an open area just outside it that could be used for breakaway groups and whatnot. I can bring coffee but it won't be as good as Vivace. If people think its a good idea I can look into what it will take.

I really wish I could find some space for DrupalCamp here but sadly I don't think we have it.

I used to work at the UW Exp. Col. (exco.org)

They have information about technology rooms, etc. at UW.

There is also a community center in the U. dist. area, if it's still running.

apologizes for mentioning the U. district

UW Campus Downsides

Monthly meetings:
A downside of meeting on UW Seattle campus: parking is $5 for evening and I don't know how to obtain wifi credentials for non-UW students/faculty/staff. Depts have different policies on evening meetings. If there's interest, I could see if Communication would be willing to let Drupal SUG use CMU122, which is our conference room.

Drupal Camp:
Unless it's a weekend, big challenge with getting rooms on campus due to scheduling with classes. If it's break, not a problem. Not as big a problem in summer, either.

In an attempt to prevent having multiple simultaneous threads about the drupalcamp, I am closing comments on this one. Please see the DrupalCamp Seattle 2008 Event and the Session Planning Wiki. You can also see the Multi-Group Announcement. And of Course, you should check theDrupalCamp Seattle group for all relevant details.
