This group exists to document and discuss the design of the SoC 2006 Gradebook project. Ultimately, the goal is to create a solid and flexible gradebook module that will become the basis for Drupal based LMS (Learning Management Systems).
Please keep discussions limited to the gradebook/assignment design and implementation.
Drupal 5 Gradebook/OG_Gradebook
The Gradebook and OG_Gradebook modules have FINALLY been ported to Drupal 5. They are still marked development and need massive of testing. Please feel free to try it out and submit bugs and features requests.

I've been working with my university to evaluate new email/calendaring applications. One highly requested ability is for student/faculty schedules to automatically be updated in their calendar each semester. With iCal exports of student/teacher schedules, this could work with Outlook/Exchange, Google Apps for Education, etc.
If meeting time information could be attached, to say OG, this could easily be accomplished. Pair this with assignment due dates and Gradebook, and students/faculty could really keep track of everything.

I don't find a gradebook project on Drupal.org. Please go to http://drupal.org/node/add/project_project and make a project so that the module will appear on the downloads page, have a project page, register your CVS commits, and make issue tracking available. Thanks.

A quick update on the gradebook project --
After a substantial amount of preliminary research, the data structure and a rough version of the API were checked into cvs --
As the coding progresses, there will obviously be some tweaks to the data model, and some changes to the API, but, for those of you looking to use Drupal to manage a class this fall, you can throw out the paper gradebooks!
This project is right on schedule, and progressing as planned.
