South Dakota
This is a group for those in the state of South Dakota and and the border areas of South Dakota who are interested in Drupal! The number of Drupal users in our area may be small, but our numbers are steadily increasing. Lets get together and chat about all things Drupal whether you are a Drupal user, developer, or Web designer.
Is there interest in keeping a South Dakota group on groups.drupal.org?

SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS ENGINEER II
Position #112610
ETD Software Engineering is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Software Applications Engineer II with an emphasis on PHP/Drupal Development. This full-time, exempt position reports to the Applications Development Manager.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kalliki Software, LLC
Just wanted to mention that Kalliki Software is a company that focuses on building Drupal websites. We're based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. We actually just released our new website (http://kalliki.com/) which is significantly improved from our old website. A few quirks left but we're close. We happened to make this entire theme fully standards complaint.
I love how people rant that Drupal produces code that is not W3C compliant but in reality it does a very good job of that in its core.
Anyway, the point is that we're a group of Drupal guys and gals in South Dakota.
SD Geeks meeting up to talk about FaceBook and Twitter API
Yes, since our numbers in South Dakota appear to be on the low side, here is another chance for Drupal folks to meetup with some other folks to talk about many geeky topics (including Drupal). The SD Geeks are meeting up this Thursday to talk about the FaceBook platform as well as the Twitter API. May be your chance to learn more about these sites and apply what you know to improve the various contributed social networking modules in Drupal.
The below information originated from: http://brightplanet.com/south-dakota-geeks/ .
Hello Geeks!
Drupal developer | Findability Marketing
I would like to talk to area folks in the Sioux Falls area about the possibility of doing some web development with drupal. I can provide the marketing strategy, graphic design and copy, but need the back end help and most of my clients want a CMS. I have some friends who have used wordpress and would also like someone that has worked in both so I can position drupal as the superior tool because it has greater technical capability.
If there are people interested in this, or if anyone knows of anyone, please drop me an email at larry@findabilitymarketing.com.
South Dakota Geeks Meetup in Sioux Falls
While this isn't a Drupal meetup, a lot of Drupal fans would likely still find a lot to talk about at the South Dakota Geeks Meetup.
Are you a Geek? Do you feeling like there is no place for you to go and feel welcomed to talk about technology? Excellent, then you are the perfect member to join our brand-new social/networking group called South Dakota Geeks.
Roadtrip to Omaha?
Any Drupal fans from the Sioux Falls area open to a road trip to Omaha, NE for their October Drupal meeting? The meeting is on Tuesday, Oct 20 and begins at 6:30 PM. http://groups.drupal.org/node/26936
Drupal Nebraska on IRC
OK, perhaps we have a way to go before Drupal in South Dakota reaches critical mass. However, if you have Nebraska roots you may be interested in this tweet from Dave Reid.
Are you a Drupaler? Do you live in Nebraska? Join in the new #drupal-nebraska IRC channel! BTW anyone know how to get Druplicon to join?
Drupal Project Manager | Kforce Technology Staffing
Here is the description:
Designs, plans, and coordinates work teams. Follows standard project management industry practices such as the PMI's framework. Understands business and technical objectives of a project and works closely with project sponsor. Creates project charter and work plan and tracks budget and schedule progress via appropriate metrics. Establishes project organization and methodologies and defines roles and responsibilities. Documents risks and develops mitigation plans. Manages scope.
BarCampSDK
I realize this is a bit more "general" than a specific Drupal conference, but I thought I'd point out here since we often get cross-pollination between these un-conferences. :)
The main site is set up over at http://www.barcampsdk.org - you can register there to attend, and check out the other resources (Google Group, Facebook Group, etc) to keep informed as things develop. :D
Hopefully we can get some folks interested in Drupal there too, since I'll most likely be pitching the Drupal CMS to a few people there! :D
Talk to you later,
-Justus
Interest in a South Dakota Meetup
Thanks to those who responded with some interest in a South Dakota Drupal user group. I'm curious how many would be interested in an actual meetup? I'd like to suggest for the first meetup to be in Sioux Falls, but I'm sure we are all open to other locations in South Dakota.
So anybody have any ideas on location or topic for a first meetup? With numbers likely to be small for a first meetup, this doesn't have to be anything formal. Let's throw some ideas around...
Introductions...
Greetings from Sioux Falls, SD! Over the past few months I have been asked by a few people the question, "how many Drupal people are their in South Dakota"? I don't know the answer to that question, but I'm hoping this group will help us find out the answer. Perhaps, with enough people interested we can get some actual meet-ups going in this fine state of ours. Of course, you don't have to live in South Dakota to join our group. I know for instance plenty of people that enjoy visiting Sioux Falls from southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa. Welcome to all!
