dojo 2.0
Drupal Dojo 2.0 resource board
This wiki is a centralized repository for the various plans, ideas, conversations pertaining to the Dojo 2.0 website upgrade, as well as the goals, vision, and action plans of the Dojo itself. The Project Tracker for this upgrade is here and the current priorities are here.
Dojo 2.0 status report
So, many folks are wondering where things are with the Dojo 2.0 initiative, especially after DrupalCon. I haven't posted any March next steps because the roadmap is changing a bit now. I actually did not get to attend the Dojo BoF at DrupalCon due to a scheduling conflict (I was presenting at the time) so I'll leave the details to others. I just wanted to answer some growing questions about "What's up?"
Dojo website spec
Here is what we have for the DrupalDojo.com website spec, taken from the issue queue which has been open for work on this for 2 months. Please expand/clarify/rework anything in the comments and they can be rolled in. On Friday, Feb. 22 comments will be turned off and the document will be considered final. We will begin creating wireframes from these specs immediately so we can open it up to a little design contest, ideally at Drupalcon!

Dojo video production requirements
Note that all videos on drupaldojo.com must comply with these guidelines (prospective from February 23, 2008.) We will accept all submitted videos, but submissions that do not comply may be modified by the Dojo to match these requirements if needed. Currently all videos must be uploaded to blip.tv and then will be added to the DrupalDojo.com site. (On the new dd.com site you will be able to upload a video directly through the site.)
There is also a wiki page that has some tips and tricks for making videos.
Is Dojo for mentoring or just resources?
We are moving slowly towards the Dojo 2.0 goal of having a decent way to deliver videos. I do think bringing some stability and regularity to the Dojo is a useful avenue to pursue in the sense that we can provide good information to people in a, hopefully, sustainable way. I hope that more people will step up to nail down the basics of getting videos standardized and therefor easier for people to contribute as well setting up a better system to propose and deliver the live lessons that were the start of the Dojo.
Dojo 2.0 Next Steps (January 2008)
EDIT: We have moved on to the February steps. Thanks to everyone that stepped up to help out in January!
We had a good CoffeeTalk and were able to hash out some of our website features. Here is what I am proposing we focus on for the rest of January so we can start ramping up. There are all kinds of discussions and tasks here so if you want to learn about any of these or if you are knowledgable and want to help out PLEASE don't hesitate to step up. If you are want to get into one of these but aren't quite sure what/where/how feel free to contact me directly through my contact form or ping me on IRC (I'm often in #drupal and #drupal-dojo, nick is add1sun.)
Does Dojo need some organizational structure
So we're having some important discussions, working on our vision and values, and laying out ideas for Dojo2.0... what's not really clear is how we're going make decisions and take the Dojo to the next level. Might be a good idea to create some organizational structure around the Dojo? If not, do we have any ideas on who 'we' are and 'how' we're going make decisions and ensure the ongoing operation and management of the Dojo?
Here's a few random ideas on roles and structure - it's a wiki, so please feel free to add clarity where you can.
The Dojo Code
Let's try to define our core values, rules of the road, dos and dont's - ideally we can create our 'dojo code' ...
Here are a few ideas - please question, comment, clarify and/or add your own...
Dojo goals and vision (2.0)
Might not be a bad idea to revisit/re-explore what this Dojo thing is,
what we do, what we could do, and how we roll... Possibly we can get
some discussions going and work towards a clear vision and 'Dojo Code'.
Here's a bit of embellishment on ideas I found elsewhere in the Dojosphere....
Dojo funding ideas and proposals
Moving this 'dojo issue' out for hopefully a bit more 'meta' discussion.
Google Highly Open Participation Contest (GHOP) (and Summer of Code) have proven how successful tasks and projects can be for both learning and as a way to contribute back to Drupal. We seem to be hung up on the 'if/how/who' issues when it comes to real money.
Once again, GHOP and the Drupal association could serve as a template.
