Federal Digital Government Strategy
Welcome to the Federal Digital Government Strategy GDO Group. The goal of this group is three fold:
- Convene a conversation about using Drupal to implement the Digital Government Strategy goals and objectives
- Collect and share best-practices describing how agencies are using Drupal successfully
- Organize the creation of common Drupal modules that implement specific requirements of the digital strategy
There are many ways you can contribute:
- Start a discussion on an interesting topic you're thinking about
- Contribute to the requirements discussion about the /developer module.
- Share any best-practices or modules you're using to implement the digital strategy.
Services Module
So is the services module the de facto standard that people are using in situations that require exposing an API to data in your Drupal site? It seems like the obvious choice, but my experience with it is limited.

Thanks for creating this group Mike. I saw your talk at CapitalCamp and I thought it was good. I'm at NIST and it's looking like we're going to jump into the Drupal world. I've set up a pilot project to get a sense of what we'll need to tweak and what we like. I'm fairly new to Drupal myself but have launched 1.75 clients sites before coming here. I'm excited to get into more development and especially along the lines of making government websites more open and flexible. Anyway, thanks again.

Andrew Wolfe, at the FCC, has created a module that provides the rough framework for a /digitalstrategy path on your Drupal site. You can find the initial version on GitHub at:

From the README
Digital Strategy Drupal Module
Creates 3 page nodes for digital strategy progess on enable. Also creates menu callbacks which load the page nodes and output just the body with the appropriate content type headers.

Proposing we develop a common /developer module for Drupal. Please chime in with features and requirements you'd like to see.
One of the main requirements of the Digital Strategy is for each agency to implement a /developer section that contains:
- A list of all APIs provided by the office/agency.
- Developer documentation for the APIs.
- A machine readable version of the APIs (for discovery).
