Yo up islanders...
As you are all getting organized for the first meet up I wanted to remember about the name change request to MID/NORTH ISLAND or even Nanaimo.
Us crew in Victoria use the Victoria group (http://groups.drupal.org/victoria) mostly, but now there are THREE Vancouver Island Groups.
This one -- http://groups.drupal.org/node/250 -- is the oldest and used for all of VANCOUVER ISLAND and think it should stay.
This one -- http://groups.drupal.org/vancouver-island -- I have emailed numerous times and still no change. I have asked the organizer to delete this group. MAYBE IF WE ALL EMAIL Ron.Brash -- http://groups.drupal.org/user/38207 he might take note. I not sure why he is not responding, but maybe this group effort will help.
This is the 3rd and the newest group AND the organizer is on his game (thanks HiredGuns!). If you are able rename this group to something more descriptive of the actual members (mid/north island) that would be great.
Now - back to doing what we do best -- drupal :)

I heard from Ron that he will delete his Van Isle group shortly.
Name Change
We agreed that if the Victoria group were using "Victoria", we would use "Nanaimo". I know that Reed is very busy. I believe he has the access to make this update. Since he and I are close friends, I'll see what we can do to get this officially changed here on groups.drupal.org sooner.
Although we accept the name Nanaimo, we want all nearby Drupal users to know they are welcome to join our events just as I'm sure they are equally welcome in Victoria. I continue to support the idea of having some of our meetings outside Nanaimo in order to facilitate the involvement and offer convenience to others in our region who will sometimes have to travel to Nanaimo to participate.
I support your desire to reduce the Vancouver Island category to a single group. I'll send a message to the organizer you mentioned. Thanks.
