The gainesville drupal group met Thursday at the Alachua County Library for our 2 hour meetup. We had 7 people in attendance. Mike H. gave us his presentation of the 960 grid system and sub themes. He showed us how to manipulate the screen to use the grid system to display div blocks spanning multiple widths and heights. He also showed us how to change the layout from a 960 pixel grid to 1200 pixel grid and also to modify the blocks from 12 blocks to 16 blocks depending on your design. Next he showed us how to apply classes from the stylesheet with the grid layout.

In our round table discussion we shared our different projects and looked at some navigational menus. Mike showed us nice menu, mega menu and superfish. We discussed the use of re-captcha and mollom.com for spam reduction and for cross browser compatibility check Ben described lifehacker browswer shots. For browser reporting and other statistics Scott mentioned reinvigorate.net.

Ben offered to show us Ubercart next meeting and how he implemented it on his site. If time allows Jen will show us advanced views using conditional operators.

We also discussed meeting at a local bar or restaurant with projector capabilities for a more casual atmosphere. The Lab and Mother's pub were some possibilities, we'll get some information ready for next meeting.

Thanks to those who came out, hope to see you all again next meeting on 12/9 at 6pm same place in the Foundation Room.

Remote participation

The subjects you are discussing are very interesting for me but...I live in South Florida.
In the Broward group (browarddrupal.org) we do meetups via Skype and Team Viewer, participants join even from Washington State.
We also record the meetups and participants who build a slideshow sometimes record them in a special website, will send you the URL later (forgot).
Basically, I want to listen up, so please look into the possibility of doing this, you can contact boss Hector Iribarne at browarddrupal.org for more help.

Thanks John! I will

Seeking Drupal dababase developer

Joe Adams's picture

Hello Nadio,

My name is Joe Adams from Jacksonville. I hope you are well.

I am seeking someone who can help create a database for a Web site that's in the works. The job would entail creating a user form with generated results based on how many categories someone selected. The user would get back a list of recommended custom links for doing certain types of research. I would type in all the links where directed so the developer would not need to do it. I would also update bad links in the future and need a way of adding new links as part of the returned results possibilities. I will be using Dreamhost as my server.

All this probably better explained in person or with a more detailed spec, which I can provide. A computer pregrammer friend who does this kind of work but does not know Drupal says its probably a minimum three hour job because it's a flat database and not that complicated.

I need someone who can develop it, help me see possbilities I wouldn't see and create an easy way for me to update links and add new ones in the future for the database.

Any suggestions you might have on possible developers would be most appreciated.

Thanks much!

All the best,

Joe Adams
