Now that the Drupal presence at LinuxFest Northwest is done (talks all day today!) Drupal Camp Vancouver is coming up in 2 weeks (Fri/Sat May 9/10). http://www.drupalcampvancouver.org/
I took at look at transportation options.
* The folks I talked to at LinuxFest today seemed to think a car would not be necessary once one got to Vancouver. Seems likely.
* The train station is 1.6 km or less from the Friday and Saturday locations of Drupal Camp
* I think the bus station is the same place (not sure).
* Amtrak: Northbound - one train a day is a morning train (7:40 AM arrives 11:35 AM). Express buses run the rest of day; one at 6:30 PM arrives at 10 PM.
* Amtrak: Southbound - train at 6 PM, arriving 10:05 PM.
* Greyhound has buses leaving around 7 PM both directions, arriving around 11 PM.
* Fares are $50-$70 for both options
Here's one hotel option I found on the Yahoo travel site: http://www.budgetpathotel.bc.ca/index.html (definitely budget; very close by the train and venue)
Who's going?
Should I give my talk from the LinuxFest up in Vancouver?
And by the way, register now if you have not already! There are only 16 slots left, and even speakers and volunteers need need to register. CAD$20 only. [5pm update: 7 slots left!]

Comments
looking forward
I really enjoyed your talk today at LinuxFest. I for one wouldn't mind hearing it again, but something new would be cool too. Looking forward to meeting more of you Seattle types in Vancouver.

Like new
Ryan,
I will actually build the 5 pages in Vancouver! That alone would make it a new presentation. The Drupal Camp audience probably doesn't need some of the bumpf at the front end.
Jennifer,
Please consider coming up and giving the presentation... I would recommend going a little further afield... Someone on the Vancouver listmight have a better sense.

Further afield?
Are you talking about going further afield for the motel or the presentation? If the latter, can you explain what you mean? :)

Lodging recomendations
I was talking Lodging... Around the bus station isn't the most congenial of locations. I've asked the Vancouver group to put up some recommendations.
A popular accommodation choice for Northern Voice was the YWCA hotel,( http://www.ywcahotel.com/ )
The Blue Horizon Hotel( http://www.bluehorizonhotel.com/ )(1225 Robson - here's a map). Website says free high-speed internet access in all rooms.

Thanks!
I haven't been up to Vancouver since the Expo in 1986 or so... so some local insight is very useful. That other hotel is not right by the bus station (about 10 blocks away) but they did say on their web site that the area was "diverse though safe". Whatever that means.

I am definitely going to
I am definitely going to Vancouver, I'm assuming I will be giving a talk on staging and deployment although until the speakers are announced I won't know for sure. I should really write that sometime...
Anyways, I will not be driving up so I'd love to either join in someone's car or get on the train. I'd want to go up Thursday night rather than Friday morning. My girlfriend is driving up to meet me Friday night, so I wouldn't need a ride home.
Bus on Thursday night
I just reserved a spot on that bus that Amtrak offers on Thursday evening, and come back on the train on Saturday evening (see schedule notes above).

I am up for the bus up /
I am up for the bus up / train back idea. Got it get my talk submitted too!
Robin
Confirm says reserved seats...
...but it doesn't actually have any seat numbers or anything like that. Maybe if we all show up at the train station on Thursday 5/8 at the same time and go to the ticket counter together, we can get seats together?
If you haven't signed up for the Camp itself, get on that too!

Sold Out
FYI for anyone who didn't pre-register, DrupalCamp Vancouver is now sold out.
Anyone going up earlier than the 6:30 bus?
I just booked the ywca. For Open Web Vancouver I stayed at the Days Inn a little pricey but not much more than YWCA when split 50/50), which is on Pender St and a short walk to gas town.
I'd like to get some dinner/drink of choice Thursday night.
It looks like I'm driving up
It looks like I'm driving up early early Friday morning. Work and other commitments have conspired to make my schedule hellish.
FYI the sessions just got released
http://drupalcampvancouver.org/sessions
Myself, Robin, Jennifer and Gregory are all presenting. Way to represent Seattle!
Unfortunately I have to get to a meeting on Snohomish at 6:00 and my sessions ends at ... 4:30. That should be fun.
David too...
David Hazel is another Seattle presenter

I'm staying at the Kingston
I'm staying at the Kingston Bed and Breakfast. I've stayed there before. It's nice, reasonably priced, and right near Gastown.
