some feedback on Drupal and Cable Access Televison

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

I recently gave a talk at a conference for folks in community cable access television about migrating their sites to content managements systems. I put lots of emphasis on Drupal. It was terrific to demo Burlington Vermont's new Drupal site (www.cctv.org) and Denver's, too (http://www.denveropenmedia.org/).
Here are the notes

I got some feedback that I thought I would share as a way to keep the KDI/pegspace beach ball up in the air.

1) Community cable access television centers already have databases that track their equipment/classes/members (http://www.beckersoftware.com/facil/) and it is very important to be able to move that database. Rebuilding is something folks cringe at.

2) Many community cable access tv operations share their website with another group - whether it is city or town government, even another arts organization. When I hear this it makes a lot of sense - and it reminds me of just how much customization individual sites will need to meet their needs.

3) A lively Joomla/Drupal discussion transpired and it lead to more agreement than disagreement surprisingly. The question -- Is there a common architecture or site template that could be used for a community cable access television station who migrates to a content management system.

4) Community cable access television stations who have already installed a Drupal site are already looking for some basic support. Upgrading/backups and general site admin is a knowledge gap - especially when we are talking about a one person shop.

5) What sort of video integration are we talking about here. So many questions and Drupal on its own still has a lot of questions when it comes to handling video.

All this has got to have some relevance to the KDI/PEGspace conversation. I am formulating some thoughts. Can anyone else jump in on this?
