Heya folks... I missed the first hour of the meeting, and some other people in the group missed the meeting altogether...

I wondered if maybe we could do an introduction thread? Like, show what you're working on and stuff... maybe just have a general chat? I know there's the Drupal profile...

Heya Heather,

Good idea! Let me start it off. I've been using Drupal for almost 2 years now - purely as a hobby thing which I do in my free time. I am a full time programmer but don't use Drupal as part of my day job. I started out looking for a CMS to handle ecommerce stuff for http://www.stellapowerdesign.net Since then I've done a couple more sites for friends and now maintain a number of modules. I maintain (or help maintain!) the Lightbox2, Code Review (aka Coder), Frequently Asked Questions, Avatar Selection and Shoutbox modules. I'm also co-maintainer on the Ocadia theme but I haven't done anything with that in a while.

Other than that, you'll usually find me in IRC. :)

hello!

heh, i didn't even fill in my intro.

for the past 8 yrs i have worked for a <a href="http://kidsown.ie/>children's arts organisation in sligo. as a not for profit, we needed an inexpensive and effective way to manage our websites. so i started looking into different CMSs.

we work with distributed groups of children, artists and teachers, on long term and short term projects. we use the websites for collaboration and communication. for example, we did a book with over 300 children in libraries all over the country, and as they participated, they shared video messages, and photos from their workshops. it brought a sense of participation and continuity for the kids.

now i'm interested in using websites to support online communities of practice- especially people with a shared common professional interest. i'm working on a site to support an association of artists who work with children; and another one for engineering lecturers and researchers to promote reflective teaching practice.

i'm more of an end user rather than drupal developer. i try to pay my dues to the community by helping out other noobs. (i still feel like one though i've been dabbling in drupal for a few years now). i remember when they added the member profile links came up. i immediately looked to see who else in ireland was using drupal, and where the other girls were ;) nice to have the ireland group.
