Ah, another refreshing SODIG (Southern Oregon Drupal Users Group) meeting.
There are some interesting developments going on the in the Drupal world now.
- Drupal 7 - is it usable? with what modules? how to upgrade t it?
- Drupal Commerce or Ubercart for D7, or Magento? Yahoo, Amazon, or other store? What is working and not working?
- Media Module updates -Jeff?
- Drupal Distributions - when to use these vs. a "mix and match, build your own" approach.
- Development Best Practices - git? cvs? svn? revision control systems? what, when, why, how?
- Best practices in supporting and developing Drupal sites...its a constant learning process.
- Training methods / avenues of learning
- Java and Drupal - interesting possibilities?
- RDF?
Just food for thought. Where does our group stand? How do we work together? Is there anything we can do to include more people in our group? Is there really any benefit in getting to know each other better?
Also, Drupal in town. Ashland/Medford/Phoenix/Talent. What's the status? Who's using it and how? What's also working - Wordpress? Joomla? Custom PHP? Python/Django? Ruby on Rails? Who are the other folks.
The meeting place it TBD - please post suggestions here. This month lets do a family-friendly location, next month we can do something like Creekside or The Black Sheep (we talked about this last meeting)
UPDATE - lets move it to next weekend so as to not interfere with the ultimate American passtime.

Comments
Location (and possible addition to "Agenda")
For the date and time posted, I will already be in Ashland. A vote for A-town. I'm fine with virtually any location (Beanary, Evo's, "Bloomsbury's" Coffee House, etc). I'm not sure what other places/restaurants would have WiFi.
I've got some newbie scenarios to ask about, for any inclined to assist. I'll have my netbook to show what I'm doing. It's like I've hopped to the right rocks to get to the middle of the stream, and am still figuring out how to get to the other side. Still having a great time though!

Sunday works for me -- SODIG
I would also recommend Standing Stone as an meeting place for this or in the future. I would also like to clarify that this group is not just for Drupal users but also for people that are interested in how and where Drupal can be applied as a solution. Thus the name "Southern Oregon Drupal Interest Group" SODIG

Noble coffee is another
Noble coffee is another location to consider. They have fast internet and good coffee.
I should have 2-3 new drupal 7 sites live by then.
We might hit on themes for Drupal 7. I still not found the perfect base theme for d7. Fusion is close, but I do not like all the extra divs it adds to everything.
Hozt - would you be willing
Hozt - would you be willing to show what you did with one of them?
I vote for Standing Stone - it would be nice to find an "open source" environment..they have some green principles in play over there.
Also, I'm trying this today: http://drupal.org/node/947584#new - adding Ubercart attributes to Apache SOLR, so you can filter by product sizes with Solr instead of views. Or, technically, if you use the most up to date views and apache solr, the solr results can be filtered through views.
A note on disclosing projects in this group
Context: This has not happened in this group, and this is just a reminder of good privacy practices in this public environment.
Just a note to say that it is best to refrain from posting links to live/dev projects that we are working on in this group (for the most part). Contribution, sharing and disclosure are good, but it is important to remember to protect yourselves and your clients from those that may be looking to exploit social, site and code vulnerabilities. When your site is ready for prime-time and is secure, this is a great place to post a brief case study if you want to. :)
In our meet-ups it is great that we have such good open disclosure and those that are willing to attend our meet-ups will see the Fantastic-Awesome-Drupalness that we are all working on (face to face) :)
Also, the D7 website that I installed and displayed at our D7 party was a good example of a disposable site with a single focus (RDFa). It was informative and did not expose the project that my client is having me build...
PS... I notice that some members of this group have restricted their profiles. I encourage all members to open their profiles and show some of their basic interests. Better yet, open your profile and attend a meet-up. We are a friendly bunch -- :)

Location
Have we determined/reserved-warned a place to meet this Sunday? Or is it our Druperbowl party?

I pledge to not be doing any Drupal during the superbowl!
I pledge to drink beer, eat lots of food, and watch at least some of the commercials.
Next Sunday works. Same time and place.
Where?
I'm still unclear as to where we are meeting. Has a decision been made?

Thanks
I would like to thank everyone for all the great things I learned (or at least, notes I took on things TO learn). Some great discussions of value, and entertaining ones too! Sorry for the quick departure; was converting another Windows user to Linux. I look forward to our next meeting!
