What does Wisconsin need?

eggy1943's picture

I am thinking there may be some needs in Wisconsin which are not identified which our Drupal communitys could address. Could we start a links section, with events and dates so we can "advertise" each other? Have you found certain forum topics that created interest in your group?

Sustainability is no longer just a quick idea or fad, it is our survival. Are there ways we can work together developing sustainable communities in Wisconsin?

Are there political issues we could contact our Wisconsin Legislature in support of?

Goal?

I'm not really understanding the goal of this post. It sounds almost as if you're trying to rally Drupal users into activism, which is really off topic here. If I'm misunderstanding, I apologize, but I'm not seeing what this post has to do with using Drupal.

Hmm, Yea

I think this post has a lot of mixed topics in it. If you're interested in talking about activism, whether it's Drupal related or not, I'd modestly suggest you come over to Uppity Wisconsin and talk about it - http://www.uppitywis.org. I'd LOVE to have a little more activity over there, ideas for how the site can help support Wisconsin activism on any progressive topic, etc.

If you're interested in sustainable communities in Wisconsin, PLEASE go over to http://www.ecomunicipality.com, as it could really use some posting love these days.

On the other hand if you want to talk about Drupal and how to do things in specific with it, this would be the place.
I'm not at all interested in cutting off discussion - but there are probably more appropriate places to be addressing some of this, where there's an audience that would be more engaged.

WI Drupal stuff

Thanks for your comments. I needed to hook into Wisconsin Drupalers and Steve has linked me a bit.
I appreciate all the work Michelle is doing on the mechanism of it.
It is confusing as some say that 5.0 will be continued but I see 6.0 making great strides. Wait and see I suspect.

Well, connecting to other Drupallers in Wisconsin is what this group is all about. Your post just confused me because it didn't seem to have anything to do with actually using Drupal.

As to the versions, 5.x will be supported until 7.x is released. 6.x has been out since February but there has been a severe contrib lag this cycle due to views and cck, the two most popular modules, undergoing a redesign at the same time. Also panels is becoming a must have module and that is not yet ported to 6. Normally the contrib lag isn't nearly as bad and I think there will be a flood of catching up once views, cck, and panels all have proper 6.x releases.
