Blake and All --

I'd be interested in learning the basics of module creation at a future Drupal users group meeting. I know basic PHP, not sure if I know enough to write my own mod, but I've had to modify Drupal code in the past and done so successfully.

My ultimate goal is to write a mod as described here for my Kitty-Cam site. I just have no idea of how to hook into Drupal and although I can surround myself with books, I think I do best in a group learning environment (sort of my motivation for taking a PHP/MySql class at MATC -- I was just never successful at learning it on my own).

Is anyone able to lead such a talk and is there interest in hearing this topic?

I like Kris' suggestion about module creation and I would add to that module modification. I recently tried to modify the 'job postings' module for drupal 6, I was able to over-ride the 'create new job' form with my custom module, with the hook form alter I dropped two of the fields I didn't need and auto filled the employer info from the user profile. However I was not successful in adding three fields that were not in the original module, I could not get them into the 'node', so I ended up just re-writing the job posting module itself, which I know is 'the wrong way' but it works great and has everything I need. Would be nice to do it the right way though.

July Meeting / BarCamp Madison

Sounds like a great topic.

Maybe we could even do it as an extended session at BarCampMadison July 26th or 27th? Either way, let's talk about it at the meeting this week. (Announcement coming soon).

At a PHP Meetup Too?

I'm glad people like my idea! I'm unavailable for Madison barcamp July 26/27 so maybe we could still do that at a PHP Meetup? Maybe the August one?
