Multi-language sites, Views, CCK etc - what do you need?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hi - I just found this group - these seem to be the right people :)

Firstly a quick announcement - Language Sections is now available for Drupal 6 - a solution for a few problems, maybe - http://drupal.org/project/language_sections

I'm looking for input from people who use Drupal for a multi-language site. What are the issues, in your experience? A typical problem, maybe, is how to have a View which elegantly handles the user switching languages (you can clone the View to make one version per language, but surely that's inelegant to say the least?)

One specific topic - I guess that dual language (local language + English) rather than multi language is a common requirement. True or false? I've started a poll here - http://groups.drupal.org/node/12596

My aim is to deliver a module which will eventually handle all "shortcomings" - I'm talking about content translation issues, not the Drupal user/admin interface, which is already adequately handled. Right now I'm focused on Views and CCK, but maybe there are other common issues?

The project is at: http://drupal.org/project/language_extras

By all means reply here, but you have a specific feature request, please put that in the relevant section on the project page, thanks.

(Edited to remove dead links).

http://drupal.org/project/usage/language_sections indicates that Language Section is proving useful to D7 users.
