The estimated costs for attending DrupalCon Chicago 2011

Hotel as low as 155$ from March 6-11
Airfares from Kingston to Chicago as low as 418$
Conference fee: $400

Total cost: Roughly a minimum of USD $1000

What this estimate does not cover is Meals, entertainment, shopping, sightseeing etc and transportation (to/from Hotel to conference venue as well as to/from airport).

So, If you were holding back because of the high cost that you assume it would be, for roughly 1000 USD you can attend in style.

If you are interested, I can supply further details on the travel/hotel arrangements etc.
