Hi--I'm in Erie and there's not a drupal group here so I'd like to join with you all...can't make April meeting but I'll try for May. Thanks!
We'll love to have you...
...whenever you can make it. See if you can bring some Drupal-buddies from Erie to make the drive more fun.

Hi!
The Pittsburgh Trails Advocacy Group (PTAG) is interested in making some technical improvements to its website. This will be a small contract.
Please email me directly if you are interested and I will send you details. We are looking for someone based in Pittsburgh.

Elise,
I'd love to, but I'm rather new to Drupal. I know a couple of others in the group work on sites independently. :-)

What to bring.
Glad to have you. What is your experience level with Drupal 6 and Drupal 7?
You could bring a laptop. Expect to come early and stay late for socialization and specific advice on any projects you are working on. There are lots of people that will discuss specific issues you have.
The meeting follows the agenda pretty well. The lecture and site demo are about 1/2 the meeting. The other half is a little more free form discussion about various topics.

Open Atrium
I am sorry that I cannot attend the meeting. I would be happy to talk about my own challenges.
I was asked to webmaster an Open Atrium site. The Drupal part is out of date, but I am unsure how to do the updates. I am home in Pittsburgh the next two weeks. Can anybody offer me some advice?
Greg

I have worked in the software
I have worked in the software industry since the early 90's. So now you know I am old. I started my own freelance business business 6 years ago. I dabbled in drupal for a couple years and have been pretty fully emersed in drupal for a little over a year. I am old school, so its just all client server software, databases and code. Bit of a learning curve, but not too out of left field. Looking forward to getting involved in your group. My laptop is ancient, but I will bring ipad and coffee.

New Discussion
Hey Greg -
Let's start a new discussion for this, as it's not really related to the April meetup. You can create a thread from the block at the top-right.
New to it
I'm a new to the idea of attending a monthly meeting for Drupal, though I like it. As it stands it should be myself, and two others. All three of us are students at Pittsburgh Technical Institute in Oakdale. Myself and one other are in the Network Administration field, and the last is in Multimedia and Programming fields.
I haven't been on that side of downtown for a while, is that area okay from flooding?
Flooding was pretty bad, but
Flooding was pretty bad, but River Ave is open again if you're coming from town. Not sure if you're trying to come from the 31st St. bridge, so you may want to check ahead of time.
Would love to join but I
Would love to join but I already have prior commitments. The topics for discussion though are right on mark.
Is this going to be recorded
Is this going to be recorded / streamed? Can't make it but I'd be interested in jumping in online if possible.

Yes, both
I was planning to do a screencast during the Views presentation, which I'll post here and on our vimeo within a few days. DavidWheelerPhD has been bringing a cam and streaming the meetings via Ustream as well.
Ustream
I do plan to broadcast at http:/ustream.tv/channel/drupalpgh
I've got a new camera; so, it should be a little higher quality this month.
I think we should have someone on IRC #drupal-pgh during the meeting. Any volunteers?

IRC
I will monitor the IRC channel.
Pittsburgh GiveCamp (Coding For Charity)
Hello everyone, I just found this posting and I was wondering if I could stop by for your user group meeting and invite everyone to participate in Pittsburgh's first GiveCamp. Implementing a new CMS or a website is one of the top requests for non-profits and it would be great to have some experienced Drupal developers at the event. If you want to know more I would love to give everyone a quick overview before the user group meeting or you can visit our web site pghgivecamp.org or follow us on twitter and facebook.
thanks,
Irwin Hurst
PS. It hasn't been announced yet but we have confirmed that GiveCamp will be held on July 15-17.
GiveCamp sounds great
Come on by!
We've got (I believe) a pretty packed agenda, but there's certainly time to give announcements and informal time to meet and greet possible developer/contributors.
I think many of us might like to participate in a Pittsburgh GiveCamp....
^^ What Fen said.
Welcome, Irwin! Come on by and we'll make sure you have a chance to share this with everyone. If you're definitely coming, I'll add you to the agenda.
I will be there
That sounds great, I look forward to meeting everyone.
thanks
For some reason I never
For some reason I never thought about there being a Drupal group in Pittsburgh. Looking forward to meeting you and talking shop.
Refreshments
Is anyone planning on bringing any food or libations? I will do some.

Bringing some Pizza
from Spak Bros. Looks like we'll have at least 10-15 so I'll bring several.
this makes me so hungry for
this makes me so hungry for pizza... drat! for not living in Pittsburgh
Pizza & cake
Oh...I've been craving pizza. I just bought a small chocolate chip crumb cake this morning I can bring.
Robin
I'll bring a few drinks
It would be great if people could bring enough for three (themselves and two others) so that we can cover those who forget and have a sort of potluck ;)
I'll contribute to a food
I'll contribute to a food fund. I won't have time to stop and get snacks. And now I'm hungry.
Should we consider dues?
$5 per person to cover food & drink with any extra going into a slush fund? Or would this scare people away?
newcomer bringing snacks
I will bring along some chips and dip.
Here are some followup links for GiveCamp and other stuff
First I just want to say thanks for letting my crash the user group meeting. It was nice meeting everyone. if anyone knows of any non-profits that are interested in participating then please share this information with them or get in touch with me directly.
