Why

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

Why an Ethiopian group? Because we need each other! We need to work together, we need to do things our way! That is what came to my mind when I wanted to start this group. This group is all about working together and sharing! If anyone has a project to work on whether free or paid, we could pitch in together and do a decent job.
Who do we need? We need everybody! We need app developers, content developers, designers, users you name it. Developers could develop some culture specific modules, content guys could just add the most important part of the website, the content, designers could contribute free and unique designs and even promote themselves, and users well they get to have what they want.
So spread the word be active ask questions and lets help one another. Peace!

Great Idea!

After having read the AAU President's address last year, I immediately thought that building an Drupal Ethiopia group would be great for AAU students. Does this group have any members who live in Ethiopia, or is it all expats/friends? I work for a university that will occasionally have Drupal contract work. In order to win a contract, ET developers will have to cohere into a firm of some kind (LLC, etc.) and I am happy to provide some guidelines on how to do that.

Well I am the man for you!

It turns out I am from AAU, I mean I went to school there and I still have some friends that work there as teachers and IT staff. Right now we are three, me and two of my friends are working on Drupal projects extensively. We are planning on starting a very small company, developing web solution based on Drupal. We would love it if you would provide us the guidelines. Regarding location two of us live here in Addis while the other is in Italy. So Zchandler you have come to the right place.

Hi Tsega,

I live in New York and organize the NYC group. I also created the site www.Tadias.com, an Ethiopian news publication. Let me know if you need any tips or suggestions.

I just got back from a Drupal4Lib camp in the US last week where I met Cary Gordon (I also provided a ride for him from another conference), newly elected member of the Drupal board. His focus is going to be on Drupal conferences and will be very much involved in the planning of DrupalCon in Paris in September. I am going to be in Addis on non-drupal related business (staying at ILRI) on March 24th-27th. I don't know how much free time I'll have but I could possibly meet up one of the evenings while I am there to talk about Drupal.
