OK, never too small you said...
Lets just start with, I am just starting to look at setting up a server for Drupal development (experience level, beginner). I see that Amazon has a cloud service and Rackspace too.
How I understand things, Pantheon is a stack which is optimized for Drupal. On the Pantheon website, it is in Beta and only a few people have access to it. However, as mentioned in the title of this thread, Pantheon is available in some form. What is available and what is not? Is anything stable enough to build a drupal site on?
I want a server setup that can use solr search and be tuned for Drupal. Where do I start if I want to spin up a server like that? I setup a Rackspace account and I can choose from several choices including "Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx)" which is what BOZTEKS suggests at the start of the thread http://groups.drupal.org/node/115654#comments Is this thread only for Linode.com users? Is Linode.com offering something different from Amazon or Rackspace?
There seems to be a lot of difficulty with setting up a server based on the length of the thread. Furthermore, the whole process is always in motion. Is there a stable setup which we can build and then move on to the drupal work and not have to become server service experts?
