On Thursday, at 5:00pm, in the coder's lounge, there will be a code sprint for geofield / storage for drupal 7. Hopefully by the end of this we will have a working geofield module, and have a direction on storing geospatial data in drupal 7.

Yes, i'm hoping to talk to the geolocation people and see if we can't bring them into the fold. That modules has some offerings that geofield doesn't have, and it would be nice to combine forces
