I have a web site which allows users to create content.

I have configured SMS Framework, Tropo, and Rules to send a message from the Drupal web site, but do not understand how to receive a response.

I would like people to confirm their phone number by simply replying to the SMS.

Any tips? Thank you.

Why do you want to do that?

Why do you want to do that? Your user should be in front of his/her computer (logined already) when kicks off the phone number verification process by hitting the "Confirm number". And this process is designed for requiring some kind of human intelligence (read sms from phone and enter code into web form field) to prevent spamming via robot, I guess.

yes i think you are right

Using the mobile registration field appears to work well. I had been trying to use a CCK field.

Is it normal to not have any incoming SMS messages? Personally I rarely use SMS so am not familiar with how most public SMS applications work.

Thanks.

It all depends on your use

It all depends on your use case. Two-way SMS communication is popular for use in information retrieval business and also sms chat for people without data access / IM client on phone.
I think SMS is good for its reliability and prompt speedy delivery plus can reach you even in remote area with no data access at all. I use drupal with sms + notification for sharing among my family, to make sure I own everything NOT facebook. :)
