Hi,

Me again :-)

We have done a website a long time ago for one of our clients in HTML only. Slowly the site is growing and to be honest it is becoming a pain for me to maintain, new content always requires me to go to code, create pages, upload them etc...

I want to get my client to upgrade the site to Drupal. However the problem is that the client doesn't see the benefit of moving, for him the current version is fine and doesn't see the need to spend money to upgrade.

Does anybody now any ways of selling the benefits or if there is any existing marketing and sales type kits? This way one could sell it to more business minded people who always want to see the monetary return on sales.

Thanks
Robin

Since the client is paying you to update the site, the benefit for the client will be if they can either pay you less or get you to do more in the same time. So, in the short-term, the most immediate benefit for the client will be your billable hours being reduced. This can be done by you having to do less coding and by them managing the content themselves via the CMS interface.

I believe that one of the greatest things about Drupal for a client is the empowerment that they gain from it. Another benefit is that the search engine ranking nearly always gets a boosting.

The other option for you is to drupalize the site, pay someone to do some data capture for you from the static site into the new one, and keep maintaining the site for your client as usual. That will take the burden of the maintenance away and you can then bill for changes that take you only a couple of minutes to make. So, you CMS it but don't give them access.
