Coding for a Cause April is on! Thanks to the excellent response from user groups around the states to my initial posting, we have had six user groups around the state step up and volunteer to help out.

This past weekend, during the Orlando meetup, we worked with Hewie and Shelia from CFCS to divide up most of the remaining tasks in order to launch the new CFCS.org site on Drupal 7. I've sent emails to all the user groups who responded with all the details.

Here's a quick rundown of the tasks:

  • News section - Palm Beach/Broward
  • Calendar section - Gainesville
  • Groups and Profiles (SIGs, Board of Directors) - Orlando
  • Newsletter section - Tampa
  • Realname module configuration - Sarasota
  • Membership page and newsletter signup block - Brevard
  • Addition of actual content - Hewie and CFCS
  • Module updates - John Learned

John Learned is also working on a document that we'll be sending each user group with the relevant SVN checkout information, site passwords, and other housekeeping information. In order to access the svn repository for the site, you'll need a free account from WebEnabled.com.

Once these tasks are complete, we are tentatively planning for the Orlando group to perform the final integration and theming tasks during our May meetup (but anyone is welcome to help out!)

My assignments and changes

I have completed my assignments from our Central Florida Meetup in March. Here is what I did and a few coments and questions:

I copied & pasted by-laws onto the proper page. Please check bottom of page fo some adjusting.

I added some calendar dates for April & May

Calendar issues

Repetive events (Sig Meetings) same date (i.e. 3rd Sunday) & time (i.e. 12:30pm) but need ability to add topic info for each meeting, and notes, links, etc. after meeting

Locations added, but word "Location" for each place in drop down.

Change times to indicate AP & PM on 12 hour clock

Added Special Interest Group content

I am not sure what what all of the choices are for:

Group roles and permissions

Group register

Only Hewie Poplock and John Learned have/had individual tasks. The plan is still to do the majority of the work during the Florida April meetups.
