After some offline discussion with Alan we're going to try to use groups.drupal.org as the place to kick off drupal ireland peer reviews, as it is open and available to everyone.
If you would like to get a few blue heads to cast a critical eye on something you're about to build or have already done, put up some info as a comment to this thread.
Your call how much detail u post & how much you share once you have a reviewer. You might initially post:
-general description of site and/or link to it
-specifics on what you want to be reviewed
-your preference for online or in person peer review (give your location)
-anything else relevant (timescale, drupal version, favourite vegetable, etc)
The assumption should be that any internal info, eg client details etc, that are discussed in a peer review are confidential, but the technical learning is "open source" and can & should be shared
Any other ideas on this?
Mike

Hi all,
the folks down under are trying something similar in person
http://groups.drupal.org/node/141764
need some fresh eyes on this one!
I'm working (unpaid) on a D7 site for a local school, and it's turned up a couple of challenges, particularly as quite a few modules I would use in a D6 version of this site aren't ready for D7.
I need to get this done soon, and would really appreciate a few other Drupal heads to bounce ideas off & come up with creative solutions that don't take lots of effort.
So if you're interested in this peer review thing, get in touch now and let's see if we can all learn something. I'll provide some grub to keep the brains working.

first peer review just done
hi all
just thought you'd like to hear that conor & I just did a peer review. It was for one of his sites, but I have to say I got a lot out of it too - some new stuff he introduced me to, as well as swapping experience with modules and approaches we've both used.
We're going to do this again next month, and I'd recommend anyone to try this, seemed to work well with 2 people. The way we did this was Conor gave me a site login and shared his goals for the site, then I had a look through it before we had a call which lasted an hour, during which we both looked through the site and discussed things as they came up.

Thanks Mike
I found it really useful to have an experienced pair of eyes to look over the build of a site. We started off on a site that I'd worked on pro-bono, just to break the ice. Had sent in advance, the login details and a version of the brief for the project. And found it reassuring to be able to weigh up possible development directions. It was handy to be able to reference other sites each of us had built using one technique or another for particular features.
I'd recommend to have an idea what sort of questions need answering, to make best use of the time on the Skype call. But also not to over structure it and instead just see where you end up.
After the call, I still need to make my mind up on a few things, but feel more informed than before. And am looking forward to the next call.
Thanks Mike,
Conor

d7 upgrade: some help appreciated.
Hi all,
I have taken the plunge and updated a site to d7. However, all of my d6 menus have gone a bit pear-shaped. Essentially, on my old d6 site I had a menu with four top-level entries. One of them was "teaching" which, when activated, expanded nicely to give a nested sub-list of all the relevant courses. All nice and simple? You'd think. However in d7 this doesn't happen. When I click on the upper-level menu, none of the sub-menu items appear.
I've tried using menu_block but what happens then is that the main menu provided by Drupal is still on-screen, and the new menu_block one is also there. When I disable the drupal default one, I can't position the menu_block one correctly. I should point out that I'm using a screenreader to do this work, so I can only say where it appears in the presentation order not visually on-screen. Indeed, it's imperative that this site be screenreader-friendly, as we can/will have blind students who need to access it, as well as myself who wants to administer it.
Thanks for any help, and apologies if if I've posted this in the wrong place on the group forum. I couldn't find the button/link to start a new thread.... I blame the screenreader, never the user!
Thanks much.

Hi Donal, The link to "Create
Hi Donal,
The link to "Create Discussion" is down near the end in the presentation order, which might have been harder to find on the screen-reader as you would have had to screen through all the posts...

(I hope your comment isn't lost in this particular discussion from June, earlier this year.)
If you could provide a little bit of additional information it might help find a solution:
- URL to see an example (if possible)?
- theme or sub-theme you're using
- whether any significant modifications were made to the theme
- any other menu modules that are installed?
- are drop downs working for any of the other 3 top-level menu items
- exact versions of Drupal and of the menu-block module, just in case
Also, are the sub-menu items added through the node for each of the courses or are they generated elsewhere like from Views for example?
PS: Do you know of the DrupalCamp in Derry in a few weeks time?
