Hi all:

I've been asked to participate in a Content Management Forum here on the UW-Madison campus, ostensibly for UW departments/research/projects interested in using a CMS for their web content. In this forum, the following CMS's will be presented...

RedDot/WiscWeb/OpenText
SiteFinity
SiteCore
Wordpress
Drupal (This is where I come in)

(this is just hosted off of my website; this was circulated on a couple of listserves...I'm not sure it has a website)

4/26/2011 1:30-3:30pm 4151 Grainger Hall, 975 University Avenue, UW-Madison campus.

I think this will be a pretty high level presentation; that's how I'm treating it. I'll probably do a little talk about why we decided on using Drupal, our experiences with it, and why we like it. I'll probably also demo using a stock site, doing things like reorganzing blocks or maybe enabling a module or changing a theme; I won't have a lot of time to present.

Feel free to pass this along to anyone you feel might be interested or to comment if you have some input that I should include. Or if you have experience with one of these other CMSs and you'd like to include a point about how Drupal is better! ; )

Thanks!

CMS Showdown

Whenever folks ask me for something similar to this I usually point them towards the CMS Showdown that took place at SXSW a couple of years ago. All of the info is here: http://cmsshowdown.com/about

It was basically three teams of highly skilled developers (Drupal, Wordpress & Joomla) building sites to the same spec in 100 man-hours of work to find the pain points of each platform.
