Hi all,
One of our clients wish to have 'textaloud' functionality integrated into his websites.
Guys are there any open source alternatives for this?
how about building a module with such functionality?

Doing some Googling, I'm seeing that apparently TextAloud is text-to-speech software.
Such software is under the purvey of the operating system and the person running it. That is, if someone wants text-to-speech functionality, they can (and likely already have) install it on their own machine. It would be inconvenient for all involved for it to be the web designer's responsibility to try to install it for them, or work out some client-side kludge or something like that.
If the client insists, probably the sanest thing to do would be to provide audio recordings of articles read aloud, like Wikipedia does for certain articles.

thank you ...
Hi Garrett, thanks for your reply.
Yes, client needs a speech/voice of version of all the articles present at his site.

Accessibility for the Hearing Impaired
If what they are concerned about is accessibility for the hearing impaired, then I suggest you look up that topic. There are a lot of good web articles about website accessibility and how to make sure that speech browsers are able to read your site properly. Also, you should be aware of the fact that there are CSS styles for text browsers that include things like voice and pitch, so if you are designing a site that is intended for people who will be listening to it rather than looking at it visually, there are a lot of cool things that you can do.
thank you ...
