Looking for advice...
Since there is no existing user base in Sligo, I'm curious about ways to have maybe 1-3 intro beginner sessions for others in this region.
- Looking for ideas about building a user group out of thin air- is that training? or is that just offering information sessions?
I don't know if anyone else reading this is living in Sligo? or anywhere in commuting distance? Anyone maybe interested?
Looks like there's critical mass in Galway and Dublin at least, but I'd like to build interest for Drupal in Sligo. Some potential Drupal users may be web developers or designers, some may be keen amateurs, some possibly students- who knows?
I'd like to give a demonstration of how Drupal works, its potential uses, how much you can get done with the standard installation of Drupal. So of course, covering using FTP, uploading and installation. Pretty much basic stuff, but the kind of thing that is really helpful to have someone show you, if you never saw it before.
Perhaps in future sessions, I could show how to select the right modules for example cases & installation. And also how to select a theme and do some basic customisation.
Anyway, wondering if that is weird idea, silly idea... or if anyone is interested in coming for such basic sessions from other regions? I'd imagine most users in Galway and Dublin are a bit further along with their experience- so it might not be of interest.
Whaddya think?
