Hey there community,
As referenced here, http://groups.drupal.org/node/139369#comment-471294, we tentatively agreed that the 23rd, this upcoming Saturday, at 11:30, we will hold a SODIG meeting at the Standing Stone Brewery in Ashland. Due to lack of time and effort, we haven't progressed much further in officializing our group meeting times and standards quite yet, but I am excited that eventually we'll get around to it.
Please come with your interest! We usually share cool ideas and let each other know whats on the up and up with Drupal and our projects. This is a non-commercial group, where we are just people helping each other out and talking about things. If you are interested in joining our group, just come and say hi, we are relatively friendly and don't talk about how bad your ideas are until the second time we see you at a meeting ;) OK, just a bit of humor there, in an attempt to disarm some of the competition that typically goes on in techies. There are over a dozen web firms in Ashland doing sites, and we are potentially an anomaly because we're openly sharing best practices - lets keep it that way!
I have a little story for you.
A young druplicon and his uncle druplicon go to the library to learn some php and drupal programming tips. The young druplicon is just so cute and happy that he gets the chance to build off the work of giants and contribute back to the world of free license, open source software. They meet in an open place and start talking out loud without reservations about their most heart felt ideas relating to using web technologies to create sustainability, community, and relationships between people. Without them knowing, a creature called the SwingingJoomPressliCon is standing nearby, without saying a word, pretending to read children books like the story of the three little pigs, so innocent and unnoticeable. The SwingingJoomPressliCon hears all of the heart felt ideas and writes them down, taking them back to their office to secretly implement them without anyone knowing.
Years later, the young druplicon and uncle druplicon have a serious question to ask of Confucius, "dear master, we later came to realize that our greatest secrets and intentions were made public and taken by others to implement for commercial or non-community purposes, and the taker became great and famous and wealthy, what should we do?" Confucius says, "the way of the druplicon is to build the success of yourself and others, because the goal is sharing information and gpl code will always be free, those who have benefited will have their karma fulfilled in the way they need, as will you, being the purveyors of goodness and filling the hearts and minds of those with lack".
This story, I found on an ancient birch bark tablet hidden under an old Pentium computer in a closet. I hope you find it useful.
