User group meeting

Last month. I don't think we've ever had more content than what was presented at our May meeting:

  • We had a lively discussion about themes for the 2012 Drupalcon Denver with a great deal of excitement about a theme involving mobile devices.
  • John McCormick (neardark) demonstrated tips and tricks for getting into chatrooms, especially #drupal-colorado.
  • John Ferris (pixelwhip) did a dry run of his proposed Drupalcamp Colorado presentation on the 10 commandments of Photoshop markups.
  • Matt Kleve (vordude) demonstrated some great functionality using the feeds module.
  • Tony Merschdorf, a local technology manager who uses Drupal, talked about his experience (both good and bad) using Drupal and working with Drupal development firms. Tony also has a proposed Drupalcamp Colorado presentation.
  • Benjamin Patch and his team previewed their proposed presentation on the ultimate marketing "module".
  • And there was pizza!

June meeting. Our June meeting is only 4 days before Drupalcamp Colorado. By popular demand, we are going to get together to review selected presentations, perhaps arrange carpools, and generally get excited about the weekend. We had at least one proposed presentation that we didn't get to in May, so we'll probably have more top notch presentations in June. We'll also have more information about the planning of Drupalcon Denver.

As always, bring your questions, problems, learnings and bragging rights. We all learn from one another.

UCCS. As of this writing, we're on the UCCS campus in room UC124 - the same room as our previous meeting. If we have trouble getting the room over the summer, we'll let you know.

UCCS tickets you if you even think of parking illegally. You can pay to park in the parking garage, park down the hill and take the shuttle, or it seems that UCCS alums have parking secrets on campus.

Summer location preferences?

Rick Nashleanas's picture

We can't get our normal UCCS room for the summer. We can always have these meetings in Monarch's conference room. We can get the community room at a Panera. Any preferences?

We can host too

We can also host some meetings as well, though our conference room seats about 18.

That would be great

Thanks, Winn. I think it would be great to move the meeting around a bit. I'm sure we won't have more than 18 folks given that Drupalcamp Colorado is the next weekend.

Do we want to provide any directions, parking instructions, etc? Should we tell people to eat before they come? If this works out, I can update the event info on meetup.com.

Update on the June 7th meeting.

We will meet at Sandstone Media. Thanks, Winn! We'll start to gather at 6:30 pm and formally start at 7 pm. Directions above.

SCUG has at least four presentations that will be selected for Drupalcamp Colorado. (Registered yet? http://2011.drupalcampcolorado.org/) We will be doing fairly well-polished (but shorter) dry runs of these presentations at this meeting. Great for the presenters so you are really ready and you can incorporate feedback. Great for attendees as you might be able to attend a concurrent session.
