Hi all-
We've had a drupal site up for about three years now, http://seattlefilminstitute.com . I installed it and have modified it over time, (I've been to a few local meetings, but thursday nights I teach and so haven't made it in a long time.) but now we've reached a point where we need to modify the theme template slightly and do some other things I don't really understand how to do yet.

Though I appreciate the resources of drupal.org, at a certain point I don't like depending on people's help for free, especially when I would really like to get a better understanding of theming and design issues, not just fixes to problems.

I'm hoping to find someone who can work with me for a few hours, get me over the hump on understanding what to do. (As an example, I need to create a new region next to the site title to put the primary menu block in, right now there's not a space for that in the boilerplate theme we're using.) Days nights or weekends are possible, but I do want to do it in person, not over the phone. Let me know what your rate would be. This could be an ongoing thing, though it wouldn't be a lot of hours total.

Thanks!

Hey Steven,

Another option is to do something like gotomeeting where you can have video and share screens, without the overhead of travel time to an in person meeting.

If you'd like an idea of how this would work, contact me offline (dave@hazelconsulting.com) and I can provide a couple of references.

Thanks,

Dave H.

Goto meeting.

Thanks, I'd forgotten about doing it that way.

Steven,

I'm a web developer in Seattle currently working on a huge Drupal site for the NorCal/NV Special Olympics. I have had to do a LOT of theme customization including adding regions. I'm available via visit to my place or via logmein.com or skype and skype screen sharing. I don't have a gotomeeting account but if you do, that might be an option. I live in upper Queen Anne near Trader Joes and often tutor people at my apartment. Since I don't drive and have a pretty full schedule now, in-person is best ay my place or at a nearby café.

I can show you the four files you need to modify for your template to add a region, but I will also list them here quickly:

themename.info - declare the regions
page.tpl.php - you add the divs with stylesheet ID class for the region the php echo render statements if the region has content
block.tpl.php - go here if you don't want standard block formatting on the region- add the region name to the != NOT statements at the top
style.css - add in the styling classes for the content in the region. these are called by "DIV ID=" in page.tpl.php

You don't usually have to modify the region.tpl.php template.

Check out my web site, feel free to contact me.
