Hi there,
I've been trying to figure an easy solution which allows images to only be uploaded once but to allow translation of the image title text. Enabling the image type as a translatable content type means when I create a translation for an image I have to upload the image again. This isn't ideal and I'm keen to know how others would approach this.

This is something I also thought about, and don't know what the ideal solution is.
However, it is possible to use imagefield for your images and enable translation for your image content type. This will share the image between translations (select 'synchronize between translations' > images in your content type settings). Filefield and Imagefield are in alpha/beta so there are issues but basically it works.
For photo albums however I don't want to go this road, so it's still a problem for me too how to set this up.
