When a new user registers on the site, a confirmation email is sent out. Is this an automatic process, or is it linked to cron?
I have a user who keeps trying to register but is not getting the confirmation email, whereas It worked fine when I tried it.
Any ideas?

User registration emails go out immediately. Is it in the user's spam box? Is the site on shared hosting (if so then bad neighbours may cause your server's IP address to be blacklisted so the email might be blocked well before it gets to the user's spam box)?

We are on shared hosting, yes, which i'm looking into changing soon, but i'll check the spam possibility first!

This is basically not for corn job it's depend on the setting of the php.ini file either the drupal own setting.
