Just bumped into this and I think a lot of DruPDXrs will be interested:
Portland Code Camp 2011
This spring the Portland, Oregon development community is coming together for an outstanding community-based software (un-)conference like no other.
Portland Code Camp brings regional software development professionals together for the opportunity to immerse themselves in seminars, presentations, group exploration, and networking. Participants will be able to engage in their preferred technology, as well as to sample other options, with a focus on extending information exchange and enhancing the cross pollination of ideas. Mark your calendar! Portland Code Camp is scheduled for June 4, 2011 at Eliot Center in downtown Portland, Oregon. The event is scheduled from 8:00 AM until 10:00 PM. The Eliot Center offers a great venue — including large meeting rooms, excellent access to public transportation, and easy bike commuting. A few deep dive sessions (2.5 hour) will be scheduled for 7:00 PM, after evening snacks and refreshments.
Admission to this event is free, all costs are covered by donations and sponsorships. Please register soon as seating is limited — and tell your friends and colleagues about the event.
Some of the proposed sessions (that have me totally excited):
- (Just) The Semantic Web - Drupal 7 places a lot of importance on RDF.
- HTML5 Canvas Mastery - I think a lot of us really want to start playing with HTML5 goodies!
- Javascript HTML Frameworks, the sequel - node.js is taking the internet by storm; this looks like a good intro into other frameworks.
- Mixing bits with electrons - This dives into the Arduino architecture a bit. If you're familiar with Google's OpenHardware platform this is really exciting!
- Rocking webforms with jQuery - jQueryUI is in Drupal 7 core. This could offer some great insight into the framework.
- SOLID Object-Oriented Design - We could all use a bit more OO in our lives.
See you all Saturday, June 4th!
