Hi,

as part of the Web of Data Practitioners Days (WOD-PD 2008) taking place in Vienna, Oct 22-23 there will be an open hacking/coding/discussion meetup in Vienna on Wed, Oct 22. The location is the Nelsons Bar at the Technical University, goto http://www.webofdata.info/hackingsession to see how to get there. There will be some kind of "Lightning Talks" where anybody has the chance to contribute with ideas and visions.

The event should bring together people interested in anything that has to do with the Web. So if you're also interested in Semantic Technologies, the Web of Data, microformats/RDFa, mashups, data portability, open standards, etc. you should join this event!

Note that the main event is also open for anybody to attend, however, there is some registration fee which was required to bring interesting keynote speakers to Vienna and include lunch, coffee, etc. This year's WOD-PDs are the first application-oriented, "hands-on" event of this kind which should show how semantic technologies may improve and enhance existing Web-based software systems and how the Web of Data will provide a completely new paradigm of managing globally interlinked information.

Dude! How do you plan to get "A minimum number of 50 participants" (quote webofdata.info) stuffed into the Nelsons? Apart from that, sounds interesting :)

Dude! The Nelsons has a back room (winter garden) for 40-50 people and the smaller room in the 1st floor for additional space if required. But we are negotiating with other locations and freewave anyway. If you have suggestions where to find a "free" place with WLAN for 50+ people on Wednesday, you're welcome to tell me!

This sounds interesting,

This sounds interesting, probably I'll join :)

Should we sign up

I am also interested in attending.

Should we click on the "sign-up" button now to say we are coming to the open discussion? Or, if we are interested in only one or both, how best do we let the organizers know?

jjchinquist,
yes, please better sign-up. There is no dedicated registration for this event, so we have to add several attendee estimations from different announcements.
The location will be announced this week.

looking forward to meeting you!
Andy
