Hello South of France! ;-)

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I am currently thinking of moving from Montréal, Canada to the "south of France". I was thinking moving close to the Pyrénées Orientales since it looks like it's a perfect combination of mountains (I am Austrian!), the sea and a mild climate (btw, don't visit Montreal in winter!).

So I would like to know what's going on Drupal-wise in that area? I am developing and managing Drupal projects since 3 years and I start slowly searching for projects in that area. I know I should not expect too much but I am curious to hear opinions... or get tips! :-)

And I hold an Australian passport too....
But .... as best I know, there are only about 1/2 a dozen down around here...

Let us know how it goes :-)

Actually, just though - could we plot our locations on a map?????

Me - Riberac - 24600

Cheers

Mark.

I don't want to disappoint

I don't want to disappoint you but I am an Austrian citizen (this tiny country between Germany and Italy). ;-) But it did not happen the first time to me, so don't worry! ;-)

Doh!

Sorry -- too much wine - too little sleep....

(Somewhere in there, there MAY be an advert for living here :-) )

I like the idea of geographically plotting ourselves, I also like Darko's idea of better identifying who's doing what, etc... though Hagen had that idea sometime ago, and built a wiki page..

Only, not all of us have added stuff there :-(

I've added a small table at the bottom, maybe it's easier that way? please fill it in if you like...

If we were all to work together, would we come up with something that was greater than the sum of the parts..... ?

Cheers

Mark.

hi

dark-o's picture

good choice, I moved from UK to Ariege 3 years ago, this is in the middle of the Pyrenees, its bit cheaper than Pyrénées Orientales . I am building web sites with Drupal, mainly for UK clients but starting to get some clients here. check my sites:

What are you Drupal main skills, are you more theming guy or module developer. Occasionally I got more work than I can handle ( but also no enough work at times), so we should get in touch if you move around here

cheers

Darko

Nice portfolio! And cool

Nice portfolio! And cool idea to work for clients in the UK from the south. That's how it should be! ;-)

I do project management, writing concepts, writing software development documents, developing (but no CSS) and QA / testing. I am currently interested in red5 and drupal integration, and will launch a site at the end of Oct where audio and video recording is available for the users. My best work so far, concerning concept, backend development and testing is this multi-lingual site: http://citizen.nfb.ca and http://citoyen.onf.ca
That was a lot of work (8 months for project phase 1 and I was the only Drupal developer)!

But thanks a lot for giving a sign! I will let you know when I actually move.

Cheers!

I live in Fitou (between Narbonne and Perpignan).
I am writing books, record video trainings, consult companies and give personal trainings mainly for joomla! & drupal.
At the moment I am in switzerland giving drupal & joomla training.
Hope to see you soon in Fitou :-)
cheers
Hagen

Looks like there are many

Looks like there are many people in the south of France who live their dream... ;-)

I already stumbled across your web site of your company. Providing training and writing books is also a good idea to be independent. Bist du eigentlich aus Nord-Deutschland? Hab nämlich mal für 'ne Weile in Hamburg gelebt.

Viele Grüsse aus Kanada!
