Hi everyone,

Much thanks to Julia (http://www.juliakm.com/) and Ben Sharma for starting what I think will be a GREAT MeetUp group in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area (http://drupal.meetup.com/19/).

There was discussion about staring a Drupal North Carolina site where people in NC who use Drupal or want to use Drupal can converge to help each other out, learn, practice, teach, and show the broader Drupal community that North Carolina has some super talent and is serious about nurturing and growing the Drupal community in this great technology state. This site will also help us keep the Drupal-curious who pop into meetings and gatherings out of curiosity in the loop and give them a place to feel comfortable (drupal.org and group.drupal.org can be overwhelming for newbies).

While there was talk of using nccommunities.org as starting point, I thought it would be best to have a strictly Drupal NC site and that that group could serve as a resource to help build nccommunitities.org up.

I took volunteered to get the basics in place (domain names and hosting) so that we can get this off the ground.

So while this is not an official "Association" it is a freely assembled group of Drupal peeps (our First Amendment Right to assemble peaceably).

The goal is to use the actual development of the site as an opportunity to teach new curious Drupalers how to build up a site and help them tackle that notorious learning curve.

I threw what's up there as of (October 4th) in a few hours including graphics. I don't expect it will look anything like this in a month but I didn't want it too look too "Drupally."

PLEASE if you are wanting to harness this power of North Carolina Drupalers, register on the site now (even though there is not really anything to do there) AND tell your friends who have Drupal inclinations about the site.

Thanks, everyone.

Let's continue to come together and connect North Carolina's Drupal users.
