Need some ideas for where to meet. I've called around to a few places, but quite a few don't have meeting rooms.
I can bring a projector and a screen, though having another person who could furnish them would be helpful.
It should have:
- Power outlets
- A separate meeting room (preferably free of charge)
- Food and beverages at reasonable prices
- Accessibility
- Wifi (optionally)
Some ideas:
- Schlotzsky's in Temple. The one right off 31st St has a meeting room, power, and free-wifi.
- Mikeska's BBQ in Temple. Close to the highway. Has a nice meeting room.
- Beatnik's in Waco. Close to MCC. Has coffee + meeting room.
- Papa Rollo's Pizza in Waco. The old LUG met here a couple times. No wifi, but great food.
Any other ideas?

How about Waco? This site
How about Waco?
This site (astonishingly) has quite an extensive list of meeting places and restaurants.
I went off this list on the
I went off this list on the last post. Either place would be fine as long as the arrangements can be made.
George's is a good place.
I'm pretty certain we could get something at Baylor or UMHB as well (since this group has alums from both places). Heck, until we get enough people, I'd be open to having it at my place. My living room can accommodate 10 people with laptops and presentation stuff is not a problem.
Meeting Places in Temple
I think Schlotzsky's and Mikeska's are both good ideas. McAlister's in Temple/or Waco might be good too. I know the one in Temple has wifi, they just don't have a meeting room.
Chris and I could definitely hook up a meeting room and projector at UMHB (and we could all bring some food in).
Waco is not central Texas.
Waco is not central Texas. If this group is for people from Waco, it needs to be renamed "Waco."
It's not just for people
It's not just for people from Waco. It includes Temple, Belton and Killeen, which are usually group into one "area." In fact, Waco used to be a part of http://centraltexas.org/, but for reasons that go beyond this conversation, it's no longer included on this particular site. Waco is not big enough for a group, but neither is the rest of it. Combined, however, we believe we can provide a useful function for a fair sized group without having to go to Austin or Dallas.
"Central Texas" is widely
"Central Texas" is widely interpreted to mean Austin and surrounding areas. I'm not against a Waco or Waco-area group, I just don't want Austinites going to the Central Texas group only to find that the events posted are hours away.
I'm sure they'll figure it
I'm sure they'll figure it out :)
Are you sure?
David, are you sure Waco isn't in the Central Texas region? And, yes, there happens to be members that live/work in Waco, but there are also members in Temple. Did you know that Temple is also in Central Texas? I'd appreciate an informed response. Thanks!
Central Texas implicates a
Central Texas implicates a large area, so to argue from a population gravity standpoint is a valid argument. However, were there to be a need for the focus of the group meetings to be in Austin, and Austin is the largest city in the Central Texas region, and city size has something to do with interest in Drupal, then Austin (as a city) has had just as much to time establish a Central Texas group, if not an Austin group.
Then again, maybe Austin is "too cool" for a DUG. ;)
link to Austin group
Perhaps you could just put a note at the top of the group that says, "If you are looking for an Austin group, continue to, http://groups.drupal.org/austin"
