Just out of curiosity, is there anyone in Eigo-Japan or Japan-Tokyo who is interested in news innovation—technology and journalism and the future of news?

Me, me, me!
Yeah, that does sound kinda cool. :)

Hahaha. Fancy seeing you here. Great! Hey, by the way, have you ever looked at the Phase2 Technology Drupal install profiles? They have two that are publishing/news related.
Re: :)
Yeah, I've used Open Publish a little bit. Just experimented with it. This was last year, so not sure how they've developed since then. They do topic pages/hubs very well, and seem to use the Calais module well too. (As far as I can tell with my limited knowledge of Drupal)
On the downside, Phase2 was completely unresponsive to any questions that I sent them. And that was the deciding factor for me in giving them the 10-ft-pole treatment ever since.
Re: :)
That's good to know. I haven't looked at any of those since they moved from Development Seed to Phase 2. I thought you might have. Thanks!
Oops. Not a reply.
not sure..
not sure what you mean by news innovation, but if it's about live stream, twitter, blogging altogether etc.. I'm researching it on the side. I've just gotta research markets that make me curious, recent developments in live streaming and commenting features on media are interesting.
If it's got something to do with innovation I'm in. I claim to be an innovation producer sometimes professionally.
Re: not sure..
Hi Scott,
Thanks for replying. I'll let you know if we reach a critical mass of interest.

Compared to Entrepreneurial Journalism?
Is what you're talking about similar to what Jeff Jarvis is doing at CUNY, with their Entrepreneurial Journalism program?

Or are you talking about something different?
Yes. Same category. On
Yes. Same category. On Twitter, Rick recently floated the idea of doing a BarCamp NewsInnovation in Tokyo. Or another kind of meetup. So I was just wondering if anyone here would be interested in that kind of thing.
