Drupal powers 27.3% of .EDU sites!

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Congratulations people! We're way out ahead of the other CMSs out there right now in the .edu domain space. This is great news for all of us who build sites in higher education! Keep up the great work everyone and make sure to spread the word! If trends are anything like I've witnessed @ Penn State, adoption from distributions is about to ramp up dramatically in the coming months / years.

I agree. It's important to also note that this is straight up .edu sites, NOT departmentsite.university.edu sites.

I think you might find a different distribution of CMSs used outside of the top-level edu domain but still, great news for Drupal.

Their sample size is from the top 1 million websites (according to Alexa). Not sure how many .edu sites make up the top million according to alexa, but that would make for some interesting bit of digging.

Drupal is flexible and extensible, and with the comprehensive user permission systems the growth is understandable.

Great to see how much Drupal is being used in Higer-Ed.

Great, I also heard that my university is soon replacing it's .edu site with a drupal installation. Can't wait to see it!!

And I would agree, Drupal IS the best choice for Higher-Ed sites.
