The Drupal Association recently announced Drupal Community Cultivation Grants - a new program designed to provide financial support to Drupal event organizers.
While full details are available at the link above, I wanted to make sure this group knew about the program - please spread the word to aspiring event organizers. Raising the initial funds can often be a large hurdle - this program aims to lower the barrier of entry for organizers.
The program is also interested in growing and supporting the Drupal community in other creative ways including educating potential community contributors at related events, through code sprints, and other creative ideas.
The first grant cycle ends July 31 - the first accepted grants will be announced at DrupalCon London. A second grant cycle begins August 1 and runs through September 30.

IRC is pretty old school
IRC is pretty old school, I'm curious why you chose to do this via IRC, I'm in early..........
There's a lot of Drupal
There's a lot of Drupal development and communication that happens via the various Drupal IRC channels (http://drupal.org/irc). We're aware of this and wanted to make ourselves available to these users.
What other methods for Q&A do you think we should consider? We're not opposed to anything, just want to make it as easy as possible for everybody.
Thanks,
-mike

Sorry you're having
Sorry you're having difficulty twisted76017. I'm in #drupal on IRC as tom_o_t, and have been all day. Are you on freenode? Try connecting through http://webchat.freenode.net/ and see if I show up there. I'm not sure who Risingsun is that you're referring to.
You can also just send us a message through the contact form at https://association.drupal.org/contact if that's easier.
