In late February 2011, Drupal.org switched from using the CVS version control system to Git. The migration was more than just importing the old repository; Drupal.org is deeply integrated with our version control systems to power issue queues, notifications, and module releases. Come on out to this presentation to learn about:
- The basics of the Git version control system and you can use it to simplify customizing Drupal sites.
- A comparison to CVS and how Drupal best practices have changed now that we are using Git.
- The improved Sandbox feature to easily post modules or themes without creating full projects.
- New methods for handling patches for Drupal itself or modules without needing to rely on the fragile "diff / patch" tools.
- Other topics I haven't thought of yet :)
If anyone has specific topics they'd like me to cover, feel free to post them in the comments below.
